5hr 53m commute from work this afternoon/night

The distance from my house to my job is 12.2 miles. It usually takes me about 30-45 minutes each way, depending on the traffic. Well today my friend, a blizzard that was supposed to hit around 5pm reared its ugly head around 1pm this afternoon, causing Massachusetts roadways to turn into a shit show. I left around 2pm thinking I was smart for jumping on the roads early.. As you can tell by the post title, it took me 5hrs and 53 minutes to come home. And that might as well be 6 hrs, because I had to shovel for a half hour as soon as i saw my non plowed driveway.Me- about 4 hrs into the trip. You may be able to sense some agitation..
Driving through Cambridge is pretty intriguing, because Harvard students are crazy. I saw 4 bike riders, 20 walkers, 3 dogs, and 6 runners (while sitting on Memorial Drive for 2.5hrs) I took a few pics just because I knew people wouldn't believe me! Weezermonkey (aka H alumni), have i told you lately how hardcore I think you are?Well the reason why I didn't pull a Michael Douglas in Falling Down is because luckily enough I had Gus' pimped out SUV, so it was like driving a kids power wheels, which basically turned into a JQ concert singing every single song on the radio- for those of you wondering- I heard Alicia Key's 2 news songs 6 times during the drive. Gus being the loving hubby that he is, has been driving the autoshop loan shitbox (because my car has been in the shop the past week). He left work the same time I did and he's stranded somewhere because the autoshop car can barely make it up hills, let alone have any sort of snow tire. Let's just say there will be a tall glass of whiskey waiting for him when he makes it back.

Today has been one hell of a day.

Does this make Rochester look better...at least you didn't have a long commute there! I'm happy you got home safely.

WOW. That is insane. Thank goodness you were in an SUV and made it home. And had enough gas to sit there for six hours. I don't even know what else to say. WOW.

yah seriously! I filled it up last night, thank God, because i saw about 15 cars that were just deserted b/c they ran out of gas.... totally crazy, it reminded me of "The Day After Tomorrow"!!!

I was watching the crazy storm on the news and was like "is this headed to NYC?!"

I would have knifed someone if I was in the car for that long. Oh wow. Are you having a nice cocktail (or three) right now? I hope so.

And I thought my 4 hour drive home the other day was bad! Wow, I feel for you.

I followed the storm online for a bit cause the boyfriend was trying to fly from NY to Boston. It's crazy! It's even crazier it took you that long to get home. I'd be SO annoyed.

Yikes! 6 hours! Man, that's worse than L.A.!

I am laughing so hard at being called "hard-core." :D Harvard kids really are crazy.

I assure you I would've been snuggled up in down...indoors. ;)

I realized my comment may not have made sense. When I saw "down," I mean a down comforter. Tee hee!

What a horrible day! I feel so lame whining over the cold rain we received down in DC. Glad you got home in one piece and didn't kill anyone out of frustration! :-)

omg that totally sucks! Way to think ahead on the gas tho! I would have run out somewhere during hour 2. It took me an hour and a half to get from Henrietta to Fairport yesterday and I thought that was bad! Wow!

I can't even comprehend that. It's unnaceptable, and I live in LA! I should know. I'm sorry. Yes, I'm sure drinks were in order after that.
