How would you like that gift wrapped?

I think I'm the only person in the world who finds absolutely nothing wrong with gift cards. "Ohhh they're sssooo impersonal", "It's like you're saying you don't even know the person, or care about them". I think its quite the opposite actually. I think its that you love that person SO MUCH you want to allow them to buy whatever makes them happy! That's true love right there. Well Brian Williams caused my perfect view of gift cards to be a tad tainted. Apparently we waste 8 billion dollars in frickin unused gift cards. WHAT? That definitely doesn't count my household, because you bet your gonads I will be in that store within2-3 weeks spending all of that money- and obviously a few extra bucks.

Click here for Brian Williams Nightly News story on this.

Do you like/love/despise GC's?

I love gift cards! But I'd rather have something else if they're for a really small amount to somewhere I rarely go. I once got a Kohl's giftcard for $10 and the closest Kohl's was like 1 1/2 hours away (we have one here now). I never spent the gift card b/c it expired and lost value by the time we got our own store.

But other than that, I love them. I'd rather get a friend a gift, but I always give and receive gift card as gifts to/from my family.

What do you get the person who has everything? A gift card! My aunt, I love her dearly, has everything. Seriously. She even has doubles and triples of things. I cannot think of a single thing to buy her that wouldn't collect dust some place. So a gift card seemed the most logical idea.

I love giving gift cards. I'll always spruce it up a bit with a small gift bag and maybe some coffee or chocolate and a nice card though.

I love opening things so sometimes I'm disappointed at first...but then I get to go shopping so it's all good! As far as giving them, I definetely pass em out if I'm shopping last minute or nothing is looking good to me. Theres only so many gifts of hats/scarves/gloves you can give someone in a lifetime.

I love gift cards too, don't worry! And I guarantee that I'll spend them within a week of receiving them, because those suckers seriously burn holes in my pockets. The economy should love me so much right now.

this is always a debate with my family. but luckily no one gets offended if i get them a gift card. in fact most of my family wants them bc they can get what they want. it's like giving cash if you think about it. and who doesn't love getting cash for christmas?

I have some relatives and family friends who I really wish would give me gift cards. Better than weird sparkly ponchos or earring trees.

And I always spend my gift cards!! Why wouldn't you?!?

I love getting a good gift card. They are never unused in my house!

I would so much rather get a gift card than something I don't really want or need. It's also really fun to take yourself shopping (especially after spending the holidays shopping for everyone else)!

I particularly like gift cards for experiential things (restaurants, spa treatments etc.).

I agree. I have gotten horrible present (my cousin got my a journal from Claire's that was gold. I hate gold) and would much rather get either cash or a gift card. That's how most of my family rolls which is fine by me.

I would gladly take a gift card. Or at the very least, a gift receipt with my gift so I can return it and get something I would REALLY like.

I am pro gift cards! In fact, I just got one from my work Secret Santa for iTunes! I'm a happy little elf!

Like 'em. Sometimes I love 'em. I am, however, usually a lagger when it comes to using them. I'm not a very good shopper. *gasp* I know! I might have to turn in my girl card.
