I Miss the Kids Table

Above: The good old days when you didn't have to help out with anything! I'm guessing this pic wasn't from a previous T-Day considering the Burger King cup... oh.. and LOVING my brother's fierce turtleneck sweater set.

This weekend I've been thinking of what to bring to Thanksgiving at the inlaws. Last year I made a very tasty cake, but I was dropped a hint that we were good for deserts this year so I should bring a dish to pass instead.

I really wish I was a better cook. I get so overwhelmed with ingredients, fractions, tsps vs tbsps, timers, knowing when its cooked.. but I'm awesome at cutting veggies. Like, did Gordan Ramsey just stop by because that broccoli is evenly cut with just enough stem.

I think I'm going to go with the 2 following dishes.

Potato Goat Cheese Gratin from Better Homes and Gardens (also providing the image)

Click here for the recipe. *After googling what the hell a Leek is, this dish looks totally doable. Plus I LOVE goat cheese. Yum.

Red Pepper Frittata Squares from December's Real Simple (also providing the image)

Click here for the recipe. Did i mention that I like goat cheese? These look sweet'n'easy!

What are you cooking for Thanksgiving? Are you actually making a turkey? Or are you like me and totally love not being a mature adult who hosts a holiday.....

Me loves that old photo! The captioning is beyond perfect. :)

This is what we ate last year. This year will likely be the same, except for the lunch foray to a chain restaurant. Papa Monkey is in France, so we don't need to split our time.

I love not having to host yet :) I will be making my amazing sweet potatoes (seriously they are the best), stuffing, and I'm going to attempt to bake an apple pie though I'm horrible at baking. Well see...

No Julie, that was not Thanksgiving...We were still on Orange St. so you were 2ish. You liked broccoli and sour cream dip.
i think the stickers on the wall were for Julie going to the potty and being a big girl. The potty wasn't in the kitchen, rest assured. I am starting to feel sad that we won't have Thanksgiving together but we'll have a jolly, holly Christmas with the M's and Lou and Judy!!! Rocco will have a nice Turkey day in VT.
Tell your friend that the best gadget in the whole gadget world is an apple corer, slicer, peeler. No pie should ever be made without it. How I made it through life without one is beyond comprehension...
Good luck on your side dishes. What will you make for my dinner???

I love that picture and those recipes look amazing!

I actually spend Thanksgiving alone, believe it or not. So I wont be cooking anything! I think last year I got Thai or Chinese. I can always go eat at one of our restaurants if I get too lonely or hungry!

I've hosted before and it was a lot of work, but enjoyable. This year I am bringing drinks. So easy! :)
