Good Basterds!

Quentin Tarantino is the man. Saturday afternoon we saw Inglourious Basterds, and as of now.. its my favorite movie of 2009. I honestly did not want to see it. I looked up movie times and noticed 500 Days was playing at the same time- which I was going to trail off and go see by myself. But after great reviews from my brother, Matt Q, I would give it a shot. Everything about this movie was awesome. My genre is usually romantic comedies, but this was just a crazy ridiculous movie with some hilarious lines and parts. BEWARE: Pretty gory though! Be warned.

There are so many new (to me) actors that I love after seeing this. Eli Roth (a local Newtonite), Christoph Waltz, Til Schweiger & Melanie Laurent. Plus, Brad Pitt redeemed himself as an actor... finally. Plus, there were even some Massachusetts shoutouts!

That was one of the highlights of the weekend. The rest of it was a nice time. I made Raspberry Puree and Champagne- Here's the recipe!

My lovely hubby pureeing the raspberries!AWESOME drink, except i broke 2 of the 3 Kate Spade flute glasses the next day when I was washing them. No worries, they were only wedding presents. Blerg. I also found my hat for the Saratoga Horse Race! I went to Mint Julep in Harvard Sq.. what a fun store! Big Hat will debut soon..

I think the only reason I know anything about Eli Roth is that I used to serve him coffee when he stayed at the hotel I used to work at. And if he weren't HOTT (with an extra t) I probably never would have even cared.

He wrote all the Hostel movies. They really aren't that great, just use gore for the shock value and that is the bulk of the movie. But I'll let him get away with it because he is so damn freaking HOTT!

Ahh! My roommate and I were torn between "Inglorious Bastards" and "500 Days" when we went to the movies yesterday. Chose "500 Days" (which was SO DAMN GOOD), but I'm happy to hear a great review of "Inglorious." It's next on my list.

But, go see "500 Days"!! So very sweet and funny.

did you also add a splash of St. Germaine? (Elderflower liqueur.) It's the secret ingredient, you know.

What's at Mint Julep? I'm always in Harvard Square and I don't think I've ever actually gone in.

WeeMo- Liz Lemon would be proud.

rialeilani- I was surprised too, but i think my hubs gets scared any time i turn the stove on, so he took the initiative!

Dutchess- wow. I would have have served him pancakes and wrote 'i ruv you' in the syrup!

Hannah- YES! I still totally want to see 500 days, I think its right up my alley

Linabeau- of course i didn't use that ingredient. will invest for next time!

Katelin- let me know what you think if you see it! note: its still pretty crazy and gory

Susan- next blogger happy hour. champagne is a must.

Lexi- its kinda on the edge of harvard sq. its a block down from border cafe.. next to the cinema. its pretty small too. i love it! some pretty pricey things in there though (my hat was on super sale)
