Pretty [and] Easy Eats

Spring time is always when we get the cooking bug in our household.. while I could show you a step by step of these meals we've been making, there are far more talented people on the blogosphere {such as We Are Not Martha} who do that, so I'll just go straight to the source instead.

The Mom 100 Cookbook by Katie Workman [$11- Amazon]

Warning: Not just for moms! This book is such a good resource for beginner/intermediate cooks. Originally mentioned in a tweet by my friend, @alison, I ordered it right away (Amazon Prime rocks like that). These are the types of recipes you want to just know how to whip up eventually without looking at a cookbook. I also enjoy her style of writing.. its fun and easy to follow. So far we've tried the Soy Ginger Flank Steak and the Chicken Piccata and they were easy AND delish. There are also some great snack ideas too.

Not only is this a great site for recipes, Heather Diane also shares with you some basic kitchen things you should already know.. such as the different ways to prepare eggs, how to prepare brussel sprouts (above), the purpose of the set of kitchen knives you got off your wedding registry (below), and many more. But the best part? The colorful and pretty illustrations that accompany each post!

I like knowing how to cut vegetables properly...like when I learned how to cut ANISE! Not that I've cooked it ever since, but still...
