A Closer Look

Are you a Cosmoholic? YEP. Here's a great read about people buying makeup for maybe more wrong reasons than right. Yes, I read it carefully and have checked myself into Sephora Rehab.
*and yes, I still have 3 huge boxes filled with great products that I will most likely never touch again.

Okay, I'll admit it took me a good 30 seconds of staring at this picture above to realize where the unfortunate product placement was. But when I did... all hell broke lose with the giggles.

Speaking of Giggles. It took me way too long to start watching Tosh.0. Me and the hubby have finally caught up on most of them, and let me tell you.... its the greatest comedy show to hit Comedy Central since Chappelle Show. Daniel Tosh is a deliciously sarcastically funny host. New episodes are every Wednesday at 10pm on Comedy Central.

Amanda Bynes has unretired. Poo. Well... unless she's coming back to do "What I Like About You" with Jennie Garth. Because I admittedly watched that show.

Sunday nights are already stressing out my DVR. Mad Men is back, True Blood is rocking this season, and all of a sudden-- TBS' My Boys shows up at 10pm on Sundays. AAHHHHHHH! I know, tough problems.

A Closer Look

This John Beck Chalkboard light looks like the funnest thing ever! I must have it in a house someday. You can write on it! (via A Cup of Jo)
We've recently started gardening (only took us 2 years of moving into our first house!) and as much as Martha Stewart was my mentor- that's now been replaced by Michelle Obama! Work it, First Lady! Looking fierce. (via Jezebel)

World Cup more important than SEX in England. I'd suggest that's the same as Fantasy Football leagues in the US. (via ESPN)

I'm so confused about these makeup mishaps.. I'm not one to use Powder Foundation, but if I did, it wouldn't be as white as that. CZJ has olive skin, so she wouldn't use it as well. (via Dlisted) What are your thoughts???? Rehab or Makeup Artist firing?

And finally, this weekend we went and saw Get Him to the Greek. Loved it!! Its raunchy, hilarious, entertaining and the banter that goes on is such a treat. I feel like the Hangover was one of those 'Something About Mary' movies that was way too ridiculous for its time so you always have it in the back of your head comparing it to everything else. While it has a similar feel to it because you are dealing with a cat & mouse chase - this movie holds its own (but still- I hold the Hangover still up there as the best of its time for silly hilarious laugh out loud comedy). Russell Brand, Jonah Hill and Diddy mesh awesome together (except I can't help but wonder if Russell is EXACTLY like that in real life). Jonah Hill can just talk and I'll start cracking up. Plus (small spoiler alert) the movie sports 2 favorites: Glossy Tabloids and THE TODAY SHOW!!!!! I think you'll enjoy it! Plus one of the ladies in the film's character is a pop star named Jackie Q. Did I cry on the inside wondering WHY it wasn't Julie Q? Just a little (such a pop star name).

Anyone else see it? Let me know what you thought..

I recently found out about a great event happening on April 10th. The Lawrence Boys and Girls Club will be hosting their “Ride the Wave” yearly auction- and Tiffany & Co has donated a ridiculously lovely White Gold and Diamond necklace ($11,000) to the Raffle. They are selling only 300 tickets at $100, so the odds of winning are much better than running a marathon and/or 5K like my past Tiffany Challenge. The winner will be drawn at the auction, but their presence is not necessary. Me thinks this is a fab way to win a beautiful piece of jewelry, while bettering the lives of so many young children. For more info, click here!

RIT is in the Frozen Four! Gordon Bombay would be proud.

This is one of my favorite Before & Afters courtesy of Design*Sponge! It is great motivation for some projects we have coming up in our household..

A prequel to The Babysitters Club?! Um... I might need to download this onto the Kindle. Was anyone else obsessed with those books? I loved how they were so organized at their meetings. did I really just type that?

Speaking of Vacation Reading.. any new fun books out there I should pickup before my trip?!post signature

  • I think the only way you could get my to willingly watch a Yankees game is to having a Realhousewives-esque Reality Show following the Cat Fight breaking out between Minka Kelly and Kate Hudson in the Yankees Wives Private Viewing section. I'm intrigued!

  • This Nautical Montage on Style Carrot makes me want to give myself a Anchor Tattoo on my arm, eat a can of spinach, OR just get a lake home and decorate it super sweet.
  • Karen O's single for Where the Wild Things are has dropped on MySpace. Who doesn't love spelling and little kids singing along in a song. Warning: its already stuck in my head. Can't wait to see this movie! October 16th!!
  • 25 Manliest movies ever made, according to EW. How come there isn't a 25 Girliest movies ever made? OH wait, I know.. because I could name at least 128 of them at the snap of a finger. And to cut them down to 25 would be as impossible as picking who your favorite contestant on A Real Chance of Love is. (mine's Mamacita)
  • Note: I still have Karen O's 'All is Love' song playing on repeat as I type. It's damn catchy.
  • I think all Beaches & Pools should have a Dog Lifeguard on watch!
  • I know we should be super excited that awesome TV is coming our way in less than a month, but is it weird that I wonder when Millionaire Matchmaker is coming back?
  • Sick of reading my blog? Time lists the 50 best websites of 2009. Its okay to look.

  • Contemplating getting my dogs these chairs for when we sit out on the porch for dinner. They are pretty nicely priced, but I'd be afraid Roc'n'Lex would start sitting in our dining room chairs too if they got used to it .
  • My Yiayia turns 80 today!!! Happy Birthday! Stop by her blog and send her some birthday wishes!
  • Fun With Yahoo Answers.. check it out!!! a fun tumblr page that is an awesome entertaining time waster (much like my blog!)
  • i WISH my random flickr pix would be picked for a Prague ad campaign without my knowledge or consent. Or at least on the preview of Prague's Next Top Model... [src: jezebel]
  • 35 Douchiests Dads. Funny list :) Although I'd totally veto Uncle Jesse being a db dad! Have mercy on him.
  • Ruelala purchase of the week. I kid. I'm banning myself from Ruelala for 1 month. My Tory Burch Tote!!!! Too bad I will not debut it until later on this week, because its supposed to be rainy and crumby in Boston until Thursday. What is this.. London?!?!
And finally, for all y'all with a sense of humor and saw The Hangover.. enjoy this Funny or Die video below featuring Zach G and Bradley Cooper. Thanks Ali for sending!!

  • Must.book.trip.to.Rome. This review totally sold me. Whether or not I bring the hubs now? TBD.. he can come as long as he doesn't mind 'When the beautiful man in the black suit and silk tie tips his hat and say's "Ciao Bella" <--- my favorite quote in the article
  • Hi, um... my new favorite obsession? This blog I just came across for the first time. Fashion Under 100. I could scroll down and read that site for hours (that and The Skinny Website) [picture: source]
  • Cute Little Old Man Alert! The Red Sox asked this former Bat Boy to come back and work again for them. The catch? He was a bat boy 87 years ago!!!!!!! He came back on his 100th birthday. I heard the theme to Rudy in the background (which makes me cry every.time. i heard it) while reading that.
  • For REAL HOUSEWIVES fans: Three ladies on the New Jersey season coming up apparently have mob ties. Whadathunkit?!? [btw - i'm fist pumping my hand counting down the days til that season debuts! plus i might have to get acrylic nails put on before watching the premiere]
  • And last but not least, everyone say a BIG CONGRATS to Katelin over at Gorgeous Footsteps in the Sand for getting engaged!!! When stuff happens to bloggers I love, I feel like its my out of town sorority sister and get all excited!

  • petsugar asks if you dog stops and smells the flowers. my dogs are too busy searching for thrown out pieces of pizza that they think are lying around in the dog park. but i do notice that rocco has tried stepping on every single pretty little flower that's popped up in our front yard. but smelling? not so much.
  • tv lovers: Ausiello from EW.com gives some juicy spoiler alerts on all the good shows. FYI.. his twitter is here
  • wow, I might be a newbie invitation designer, but I totally could have come up with something more fabulous than what gis and tom chose! is that Times New Roman font?
  • if you stare really close in this picture, you can see a starbucks and a jamba juice by the 4th tree on the left in this rare photo of manhattan 15 years ago....
  • And this Real Simple emailed quote I've kept bookmarked for a while now. I'd like to share it.
Enjoy your weekend!

A Closer Look

  • I think Jonah Hill totally trumps ScarJo in his new Vanity Fair April Cover.
  • Celebrity Apprentice.. I forgot how AWESOME Tom Green is. And I'm also rooting for Joan Rivers. I think the world needed a 2 year break from Trump before we can appreciate this show once again. EW talks about what other great MTV hasbeens should come back. Amaya from the Real World Hawaii, anyone??
  • For those of you who don't use twitter (or follow me on it) last week I mentioned how this trial version of the Philosophy Skincare line made my face break out in a complete rash! AT LEAST it wasn't red, or else I wouldn't have been able to go to work. It was only noticeable if you looked at it up close. My smart doctor friend told me to pick up some Cetaphil face wash and Hydracortizone and it disappeared in about 2 days. Just an FYI for those who wanted to try it out at Sephora. Beware!!
  • Bachelor. I need to stop watching this show. I get way too invested; emotionally and mentally! Jason looks like he's going to have to hire Chris Brown's PR team to get him out of being America's Biggest Jerk today!
  • Dear Radaronline. you seriously need to get over Octomom. Its stinking up your website!
  • I dont think I've ever NOT clicked on a 'Top Celeb Hairstyles to flatter your face article'. This will be the year I rock a bob. (just after I lose the x amt of lbs with the new gym) I'm trying to figure out if my face is a heartshape or ovalshaped?! Or maybe its star shaped ;)
  • And finally: the highest heels I've ever attempted to walk in arrived today from dsw.com. Very excited to rock them on vacation, except I'm afraid I might need more time practicing walking in them while having cocktails. Broken ankle on vaca does not sound like fun...

  • I'm guessing there is a hole lotta booze in the tool boxes on Home Improvement Shows. First it was Ty Pennington and his DUI, now its TLC's Trading Spaces & Moving Up's Doug Wilson who got busted on NYE. On a side note, Moving Up is one of my new favorite shows. Its kooky and corny and brings people back to their house after they move out to see what renovations and decor changes which were made by the new owners. The fake 'ooohh.. that's interesting' comments that are made during the reveal make it awesomely awkward.
  • oh la la... the best places to M.O. (make out) in Boston!
  • Giselle doesn't have to brush her hair or wear foundation. If you could see my face under the 3 lbs of makeup I have while writing this, you'd see some tears.
  • I have a minor obsession with the Eat This Not That segment on the Today Show. Most recently they hit up the supermarkets for all of the worst packaged foods. Twix is bad for you? Ca-ray-zee-nez
  • Flat Tummy Meals, another zinger from the Today Show. Hopefully I will look as hot as MerVer!!!
  • New Shows to watch in '09! Plus January means all the good shows are coming back. Gus told me my New Years Resolution should be to not watch as much tv, but I think the peaceful green mountains in Vermont must have gotten to him. Plus, he likes 24 & Lost. Jack and Jack.
  • Are snowboards getting too risky in VT with Burton's Playboy line of boards? The only thing I could see happening is guys being distracted by looking up at the boobies on the chairlift and wiping out a ski school in progress. Other then that its totally kosher in my eyes.
  • And finally, the COWBOYS are out of the playoffs! This made me super happy since the Cowboys were the only team I followed this year only to hope they'd lose every game and Jessica Simpson would get dumped.... so now we wait
  • Oh. and one more thing, totally got sucked back into watching The Bachelor again. kjadsfkljasdf did anyone watch the season preview at the end? With Deanna coming back and causing a rockus! I haven't been this excited since the Atlanta Housewive Sheree's Fashion Show with No Fashion (literally.. no clothes were displayed). I have chills.

  • A Rachel Ray tattoo? C'mon.. twist my arm. Check out Rach and the rest of the hotness here.
  • 11 "Don't Tell The Wife" Secrets. Is your man feeding you the same cup of BS?
  • My girl Ali sent me this one, and I had to take a double look. Oprah magazine says that TALKING LESS will improve your marriage. Do you think that includes emailing lists of things/chores???? Hope not.
  • Today the amazing Nik Wallenda will be attempting to break a world record. To give you a little bit of a backround:
"When Nik Wallenda attempts to ride a bike 250 feet on a high wire strung 135 feet above the streets of Newark, N.J., on Wednesday, the weatherman says he’ll be performing in bright sunshine. But he’ll be walking in the shadow of death.

It’s something that comes with being a member of the circus family whose trademark is never using a net. Nik’s great-grandfather, Karl Wallenda, died in a fall from a high wire. Two other family members were killed and another paralyzed in another accident. Another died when the metal pole he was using to set rigging hit a high-tension wire. Another died when she fell from a sway pole." source: The Matt Lauer Show aka Today

NO NET?!?! This sounds like the wackiest crazy thing ever. Set your DVRS, people. This sounds so much more hardcore then anything stupid Chris Eyeliner Angel or David Lame Blane have ever done!!

I'll leave you with one of my favorite Mitch Hedberg quotes in honor of Nik Wallenda

"If you had a friend who was a tightrope walker, and you were walking down a sidewalk, and he fell, that would be completely unacceptable..."
