Bling up your Summer!

Doesn't it feel like Summer is almost over? Maybe its just me. But I can already cringe thinking that snow storms are around the corner. Something that helped get me over my crazy thoughts about snow and help keep the dream of summer alive? A gift in the mail from Tiffany & Co!

They sent me this lovely Charm from their new Tiffany & Co.'s Summer Travel Charms collection.

Commemorating one's favorite warm-weathered hobbies and activities in the Greater Boston Area, there are so many cute things to choose from. A Sterling Silver Scooter Charm with Tiffany Blue Enamel Finish (seen above), a Sterling Silver Flip Flop charm -- an ode to Cape Cod and hot pink pedicures, a Sailboat Charm -- the classic symbol of sunny summer days spent on the oceans of the Cape or Maine.

Plus there is a beautiful Tiffany Sea Shore Charm bracelet that will remind you of the beach each time you wear it.

Call your local Tiffany & Co for more information. Or stop by the Copley Place Tiffany & Co next time you hit up Newbury Street or Boylston for some shopping, as well as the Chestnut Hil & Natick Collection stores... And thank you again! I cannot wait to put my charm on a necklace. Tiffany Blue always makes Julie Q look much more sunkissed than bronzer ever could.

The Girl Cave

I recently saw a picture of some girly beautiful wallpaper and thought, that would never be allowed in our household (the hubs would veto it right away). But then started to think- boys get their own 'man caves' why can't we have our 'girl caves'?!

What I'd feature in my Girl Cave...

1. Gift Wrapping Section- obviously.2. Scrapbooking area: because in the girl cave I'd have the patience to actually mark down any experiences instead of throwing them all via digi pics onto Flickr and Facebook!3. Totally setting myself back 50 years, but I'd LOVE to put a laundry room section in my girl cave. Ironing is the most relaxing thing ever. And being slightly OCD, I heart crisp clean clothes.4. I'd like the hot pink couches from RHWONY for Rocco and Lexie to hang out on (Rocco would be allowed in cos he's a mama's boy anyways)5. Speaking of.. I'd have one TV that loops RHW all day long. And on one of the other TV's, HGTV looping all day with no commercials, and you had the option to press a button for each show and it'd go straight to the 'reveal!'

6. Bookshelves, but instead of books, it would be all magazines in Mint Condition, because all of the books I'd need are on the Kindle or iPad.
7. Docking station - because I am only happy when all of my gadgets are at 100%.
8. A full mannequin so I could put together my outfits before going out.

9. A giant wall to showcase all of my shoes and bags.
10. Full time security to leave all of my jewelry out on display.

11. A Makeup Vanity table set up exactly like a MAC Store
12. A Mani Pedi Station so I wouldn't have to drive somewhere to get my nails did... the colors might be a little more JQ Loungeish though

12. And lastly, a Ping Pong Table - although its a Woman Cave, one must have ping pong.

What would you have in YOUR girl cave?

Help! Need your style expertise.

So I have a Wedding on Saturday, and I've been basically doing my Biggest Loser Last Chance workout all week to rock this fitted dress from White House Black Market. And by that I mean running, no booze, and purchasing my first pair of spanx, thanks to my Jillian-esque motivational g-chat/life coach pal, Caroline, for the great idea!

BTW, White House Black Market was AWESOME for doing a price adjustment considering it went on sale the day after I bought it. They rock.

Then I found these gorjas shoes at DSW, so the color scheme has now been turned into Black & Gold.

Question: What color should I do my nails? And should I just pair a gold necklace with this ensemble?

I'm clueless. I kind of want to rock bright pink nails, but I'd LOVE to hear some input from ladies who have far much more style than me! Thank you thank you thank you in advance!!

UPDATE: See, I knew you would all know the right thing to say. And since I'd never pick deep red colored nails, myself- I went with OPI's Chick Flick Cherry. And it looks fantastical! Thanks ladies :) Now if you could only make it stop pouring on my friend's wedding day... wwhhaaahhhh

His name is Marc.

And we are in lust. Hubs knows all about him, he even suggested we meet. (he's wicked cool like that)Bloomingdale's Friends & Family 20% off is just like saying there's no calories in Mike's Pastries. I'm not even sure if I'm going to allow Lip Gloss in this bag. Or better yet.. bring it outside...

I tried doing this with the Bloomingdales bag but couldn't capture the same artistic beauty..

Charming way to run the Boston Marathon

What does running & a little blue box have in common. For most people? Nothing. For me? It goes back to the first 5K I ever ran. Before training, I couldn't even run around the block without wanting to just lie down there in the street and take a nap. I needed a little help. And what makes me try hard? Jewelry and treats!

My darling significant other once told me if I could run a 5K in under 27 minutes, he would buy me anything in the Tiffany & Co catalog; since I'd always kept one on the coffee table in college. ANYTHING?! I asked? Virtually flipping to, in my head, the Lucida Diamond Engagement ring I'd been in love with since seeing the ad in 8th grade. 'Well, anything under $200', he said. In his defense.. we were just broke college kids. Unfortunately due to pure laziness, it would not be 2 years before I took on the Tiffany Challenge.

Rocco & Me after the race!

So little by little, I ran and ran. 1 mile turned into 2.... 2 miles turned into 2.5..... 2.5 turned back into .5 miles on days where I just did not feel like running. And finally, 3.2 miles on the day of my 5K. The only thing is? I did it in 34 minutes.7 minutes shy of the little blue box. (editor's note: this was 2006 so I'd managed to get my dream ring the summer before, so I wasn't too sad I didn't get to pick out something in the Catalog.) Plus I was proud of my 34 minute time!

While I did not get my fabulous prize at the end of the race, it was only because the Tiffany & Co and Boston Marathon Collection did not exist.. until now!

The Tiffany Boston Copley Store has the Four Leaf Clover Tag Charm ($100) in Sterling Silver engraved with "Boston Marathon 2010". You can then engrave it with your runner's name and time.

Might just have to break out my New Balance running sneakers that have been collecting dust...

I just hope there is enough space on the Clover for Tiffany's to write 4.5 days as my time.

JQ Lounge 2010 Oscar Recap

Its our favorite time of the year at the JQ Lounge: the 2010 Oscars! This year's event had the usual suspects in attendance: me, hubs, my brother Matt and his lovely girlfriend Andrea. Oscars and Chinese Food is a great little tradition of ours + some witty banter in between through live tweets.

A Simple Man-gria were the drinks of choice :)

Guest Judges, Andrea & Broseph (and Lexie sneaking in an appearance)

Hubs: Is that the girl from Wedding Crashers?

Bro: No, that's Borat's wife. This girl is from Up in the Air.

Andrea: I love how Ryan Seacrest had to wait til Anna Kendrick walked away to tell M'onique that she was a lock for the Oscars

Bro (as told by Lexie): Rain on the Oscars? More Natural Disasters of 2010! Thank God George Clooney is already here to put together a telethon

Bro: I went to sleep last night with the mental picture of Kathy Griffin making out with Mariska b/c I had just watched Law & Order. Not cool.

FYI, from now on I'm going to call her Sandy, just like Ryan Reynolds.

If you don't have time to live your life now, when do you? (at the Oscars) -fortune cookie

Hubs: What was the last movie he was in, Ferris Bueller?

Shiloh Jolie is so big now!!

My pix of the evening? J Lo.

Elizabeth Banks (but she was favored because she guest starred on Modern Family in my eyes)

Demi Moore. I dont know why she was there, but she looked even younger than the last time I saw her on the Red Carpet.

And a shout out to Matt Damon. Alway representing Boston and looking bootyliscious. His wife is so pretty and seems like the nicest women ever.

Click here for the rest of my Red Carpet tweets (there were quite a few)

Countdown to the next Oscars begins now!

How fast can you pack for Milan?

Dear Huge Apparel & Fashion Department Store,

Remember when I interviewed for the Buyer Program at your Headquarters 3.5 years ago? And I was crushed when I got that rejection email? BTW, it popped up in my inbox 2 days in a row--really hoping you did that by accident!

No hard feelings because I ended up at an awesome company. Also, I could never hold a grudge because I'm obsessed with shopping at Home Goods. xoxo. kisses.

Plus, I've finally been given the chance to start my own boutique and become a buyer!

Thanks to Style Savvy, my new favorite Nintendo DSi game that Brand About Town sent over! At first, I was too blinded by the gor-jas Lorac makeup gift that accompanied the game, but when I finally sat down and gave it a shot, I was completely hooked. To the point that I found myself playing it until about 11:45pm on a Saturday night (I'm not a total nerd- it was pouring out in Boston and I was recuperating from Miami)

So far, I've sold about $5,400 worth of clothes... won a fashion contest... ordered the spring line 3 months in advance...gotten my hair styled with the latest trends... been featured in a magazine, and this is only one day in. At first I thought the game was going to be for 4 year olds, but seriously... its amazing and smart and entertaining.

To all the ladies who came to my faboolooos Girls Guide to Gaming party this summer, I highly suggest you pick it up! And Katelin- we can play via WiFi and put our boutiques next to each other! You game?

I gotta go.. there's a 30% sale going on at the JQLounge.. my clients need my fashion advice.

Ciao bellas.
