1st Annual Boston Bloggah Happy Hour!!

As I mentioned before, Susie from Everybody Loves a Boston Girl, and I have been working on getting all the Boston Bloggers out there together for a Happy Hour! I know June is a busy month for everyone, but it'd be great to meet some of you! And, for anyone who enjoys a great road trip, what a fabulous weekend to come visit!

I found my identical voice twin

One of my fave bloggers, Allie of My Wardrobe Today, was on BlogTalkRadio for the subject of keeping a loyal readership. Bloggers will totally appreciate the great tips she gives!

But that's not all.. when I clicked on the podcast, all of a sudden I heard myself talking and giving the interview. I didn't remember doing that at all- but then I realized it must have been my VOICE TWIN. Sarah Conley, the chick interviewing Allie, pretty much has the exact same voice and accent as moi. Too funny and ridiculous. For the 2 people.. alright 1 person.. out there who are probably interested in hearing my voicetwin's voice.. click here!!

My brother Matt Q is one hilarious bastard. While I got the gorgeous genes in the family, he was given the musical talent and somehow we split the funny brilliance down the middle.. Well he's part of a fierce group of jokesters that just started their own blog, Totes Rando. BTW it stands for totally random. I like to think of it as a cross between Jack Ass meets In Living Color with a slice of David Hasselhoff and Jack Bauer as a stepfather, but that's just me.. check it out, its been featured on the blog roll for your cyber pleasure.

Fellow RIT'er in a Super Bowl Commercial!

What many of you may not know is that the National Technical Institute for the Deaf is located at RIT.. so I was psyched to see an Alumni Email blast this week mentioning that an alumni is featured in a Pepsi commercial airing during the superbowl tonite! I watched it on Youtube, and absolutely LOVED IT! He is the guy who is seated in the passengers seat and his name is Darren Therriault. Check it out. Oh. and GO PATS! asdljkfadsljkadsflkjasdflkjsfda

update: commercial was played during the pregame show. And we lost, so please feel free to kick a bostonian when they are down and comment away. Congrats to the Giants. One love.

I didn't know they made awards for 10th place?

So the results are in for the 20SB awards here. And sadly enough, the JQ Lounge did not win for best design, but the good news is, at least a very pretty blog won! Plus a bunch of friends that I voted for woo hooo!

But I'm going to pull a Zoolander and give my acceptance speech anyways..

First, I would like to thank my Intro to HTML class that I took freshman year at college. Sure I didn't get what href meant and managed to accidentally delete my 'mock website about puffins' 5 minutes before our exam ended, and settled with a C, but that C gave me the 'c'onfidence to try and make this little blog into the orgasmic blast of color and polka dots that keep you coming back.

I'd also like to thank alcohol, that ties into this bar themed design. And makes me hilarious.

Rocco, you're my muse.. keep chasing your tail and sitting on my feet when I type of these posts, but please don't try to eat my socks because thats just annoying and frankly.. it tickles.

Gusman, I promise I will one day learn to shut the MacBook off and just watch a tv show with you.

To the homegirls that leave me comments even though they can just email me and actually get a quicker response, but they know I love to blog and am an attention whore that likes comments too :)

And last but certainly not least.. my bloggettes.. y'all are funny and cool, and I have even found a few girls out there with a television obsession as big as mine! When is 20sb going to put together a conference where we can go party?! Vegas, yes? Fine I'd EVEN settle for California!

Ode to Digital Cable's Guide Function

Using the guide to see whats on is SO much better then just clicking through the 30 or so channels you get with regular cable (which is what i'd been stuck with for the past 2 yrs). I'd like to point out 3 random shows I've been watching ever since Digital Cable Guide came back into my life.

• Man vs Wild on Discovery Channel. Bear Grylls is one crazy mofo. He likes to pee on his shirt before turning it into a hat to wear in the desert. He guts camels and hides in them to protect himself from sand storms. He eats scorpions like they're McDonald's French Fries and drinks water stored in a camels hump like its a Cosmopolitan. Why does he do this? Because he can. That's why. Some people think the show is phony.. and you know what I say to them? Try eating a goat testicle, because something tells me that isn't really a candy apple that Bear Grylls ate on the show last week.
• House Hunters. One of the 35 HGTV shows I'm obsessed with at the moment. But this is by far my favorite. The viewer gets to go along for the ride as a home buyer checks out 3 different houses. Sure it makes me cry a little when I realize how much cheaper houses are in most places compared to Boston, but its still super fun to watch.
• Whose Wedding is it Anyways? on Style Network. I remember in college my roommate Lynn and I were obsessed with TLC's A Wedding Story. Lol unless it wasn't a cute couple, then we'd change the channel! Anyhoo, Whose Wedding is it Anyway is by far the best wedding show on tv. ever. It follows around Wedding Planners in all parts of the country and you can see how different cities and styles really are. The best planner on the show is Lynette Richardson Hall, from Baltimore. She's a diva. She's the best.

Mo Money Mo Problems

SO ever since I changed the domain name to jqlounge.com, I've noticed my pictures have been acting pretty whacky (if you're even lucky enough to see a pic- because I've just been seeing plain ole text)!

So I did the smart thing and tried fixing it right before bed when I was exhausted- only to have somehow shrinked the main title. Probably won't be having a free minute until later on next week to fix it. Sorry for the eyesore! HTML experts are totally welcome to give their input.

Finally switched to www.jqlounge.com (i suggest you do it for your blogs too- except with your own blog's name lol! Its only $10 through Google- and even cheaper through other sites).

So for all my blog bff's you can switch the hyperlink on your blogroll- but it doesn't matter because it redirects.. you're call!

Finally back at the ole apartment after camping out at the inlaws and then going straight to work on Friday. Not really sure why I had to work because it was completely dead! I think it was me, the rest of the new people that started around the same time as moi, accounts payable, and the CEO. (everyone else got to use their floating holidays- blarg). Uploaded some T-Day pics, the maple spice cake came out really good again, except this time, as soon as I completed it, Cecilia my mother-in-law said
"Alright I'll go pop it in the fridge downstairs"
and I'm like "What?"
and she's all, "Yeah, with the cream cheese filling that should probably go in the fridge"
"Hmmmm, interesting"
Didn't think about that AT ALL last week when I first made it! (newbie baker up in here). It must have sat out for a lot longer then Martha would have wanted it to..

Thanksgiving was fun, there were about 15 people in attendance at my in-laws so we opted for the Buffet style serving. You'd think b/c we weren't sitting at a table together we wouldn't have to go around the room and say what we're thankful for. I was the 2nd one to go, and I just said "Rocco and the rest of my family" Note* I'm a big dork when it comes to talking on cue.

Then Friday was work as you all know. Thank you for commenting, it brightened up the day to see my gmail inbox popping up with Black Friday gossip. Sounds like only a few are you made it to the mall, but apparently there was like 20 billion in shopping yesterday. I'm thinking of going the online route this year..

Finally relaxing the rest of the weekend. Catching up on Curb, The Wire & Weeds, and anything Hollywood Video has in stock (plus sneaking in a trip to the gym after eating a piece of the maple cake). Plus Gus picked up Super Mario Galaxy for Wii on friday (and pretty much played it the whole time I was at work). He claims its better then Super Mario 3. We will just have to see about that! I think its a long shot.

A few more pics..Santa's Reindeer made a special appearance. So did Matt Q.Impromptu Photo Shoot with the cousins.I'm submitting this one to ANTM for next season. Tyra will love the smile with my eyes I think.

I Got the Mario Thumb

Ever since Super Mario 3 came out for Wii ($5 download online- what what?!), I've acquired the Mario Thumb. I like the define that as when your thumb presses down on the controller extremely hard while playing SMB3 for 2 hours (its my new relaxing mechanism for after I have to sit in traffic for an hour). My Mario thumb even bothered me at work this morning when I was using a pen!

Hills and Reflections

EW had this picture in their latest issue which made me chuckle b/c i bet about 14 million people would tune in if this were the case. Click on it to make it full size..
And then I saw the Chip Monitor Mirror (pictured below) on Geek Sugar. WHERE WAS THIS AT MY OLD JOB? The point is to use it like a rear view mirror in case your boss comes over and you don't want him to find you on Perezhilton.com. Guess what- they have other ways of figuring that out.. damn IT guys! Anyhoo- at my old job I taped about 3 different Clinique and Sephora pocket mirrors to my monitor at different angles so even if my boss tried to sneak into my cube from using suction cups to crawl from the ceiling, I was going to see it coming. The mirrors made it look like I was practiced wicken or something, or that I was completely vain..

Saw American Gangster last night. Thought it was pretty good, but not as good as The Departed. Denzel and Russell Crow were both pretty dreamy in it. Definite rental, but its a fun movie to watch in the theater as well.

note* thats how Rocco sleeps sometimes, its hilarious which is why i took a picture of it.
