Benefits of CBD
Cannabidiol or CBD is a new phytochemical that has shown promise as an anti-psychotic. It was first discovered by accident in 1940. It’s one of the nine known active phytocannabinoids in cannabis, and constitutes up to 40 % of the plant’s total extract. But what is it and what are its potential benefits?
Cannabidiol behaves like all other phytochemicals. In fact, it is one of the strongest phytochemicals present in nature. Its physiological properties are very closely related to those of tetrahydrocannabis (tweed), the psychoactive compound found in marijuana. In laboratory tests, cannabidiol has been found to be as effective as cannabis in producing a kind of short-term memory impairment, and in controlling attention deficits caused by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The medicinal value of cannabidiol can be traced back to the fact that it is a powerful inhibitor of lipid peroxidation, a process by which harmful free radicals are created in the body. This property may explain why it has some of the therapeutic effects attributed to the use of CBD in treating psychiatric diseases.
However, one study found little benefit in reducing blood pressure and heart disease in patients taking cannabidiol (a significant amount of CBD was taken, however). The CBD group had no significant change in either BP or heart disease. This was a small-scale clinical trial comparing a low dose of CBD with a high dose of a non-cannabis product, the only other pharmaceutical ingredient in the study. Thus, further studies are needed to verify these results. As with any medical study, complete patient details were not available for this study.
In recent years, there has been an explosion in research on CBD and its medical benefits, with many studies linking it with the benefits of certain ailments such as Alzheimer’s disease and cancer, as well as aiding in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and seizures in children. It is not clear whether CBD is effective against these illnesses because it has not been studied directly. While it appears to have some appetite suppressant properties, there are no indications that it has an appetite enhancing effect in humans. Similarly, there is no evidence that CBD is helpful in treating anxiety or depression, although some experts believe that it may help reduce the symptoms of autism.
Cannabidiol does not appear to be effective in treating the sleep disorder insomnia, but some experts believe that it might have some short term benefits in decreasing daytime sleepiness. There are a number of conditions in which CBD is used for short periods. One such condition is called ” CBDdeficiencies,” where a patient is administered doses of CBD before he or she takes their regular prescription medications for a given condition. It has been found that CBDdeficiencies lead to fewer seizures and a decreased risk of substance abuse. There is also some evidence that CBDdeficiencies may help to protect brain cells from degeneration, another condition that can occur with certain neurological disorders such as strokes and brain damage caused by traumatic injuries or diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
There are some side effects that occur when taking CBD. Because CBD is a psychoactive drug, it can have some addictive qualities and users should avoid taking CBD if they use prescription medications for pain relief or anxiety. People suffering from depression, seizures, and other serious disorders should consult their medical health care provider before taking CBD. If you are considering trying CBD or any other cbd products, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist to find out more information about the potential side effects and the best way to use these products.
