A Closer Look

  • Usually I hold the Today Show as one of the top news sources (right below people.com), but THIS LIST of the best and worst places to raise a family almost makes me want to watch Fox News instead. This list couldn't be more far off--well.. just the Massachusetts picks. Blarf
  • Speaking of strong reporting- the biggest question there is.. do guys prefer Curly hair or Straight?
  • Feeling crazed and completely swamped and busy all the time? Well this girl has got some good tips pour toi. So at least you look good when you're stressin' up to your eyeballs!
  • Radar Quiz: Is it John McCain or Indiana Jones?
  • I blame Spencer Pratt for $4 gas, but CNN has a different take.

1 Mouse down. 2 to go.

So apparently there are 3 blind mice that like to hang out underneath our fridge. We thought it was only one, but then had a feeling there was more after we caught 1 with a mousetrap. While I asked Gus to drive it to the next town over and let it go free-- I'm not sure that happened.

Next up: pulling a "To Catch a Predator" scheme by videotaping the mousetrap and seeing what exactly is going on. 2 MORE FRIGGIN' MICE! I must admit, they are really cute and hilarious when watching them on camera.. but then I realize its my apartment.. and I start to freak out. And put on slippers instead of flipflops.

NOTE: That's peanut butter, because the mice ate the cheese!!!

Cannot WAIT to move into our house!!

UPDATE: 1 more mouse has been obtained. We sent him over to CTU's Debriefing room so Jack Bauer could interrogate him.

A Closer Look

  • Omg, I was such a fan of American Girl Dolls when I was little, I might have to swing by the new store opening at The Natick Collection. I owned Samantha. She was the coolest, cos she had fierce brunette hair like myself. Except I was jealous of Molly's glasses. WHICH ONE DID YOU HAVE?
  • Who doesn't love a blog post titled "Beat Belly Bulge" by wearing this. Tres cute!
  • Product girl is giving out a Sex & The City Gift bag, enter here!
  • Radar picks internet's 10 most hated people.. Phew, I brushed the 11-20 rank.
  • Audrina is set to star in a movie. Take that Spencer and Heidi!
  • Foods you CANNOT feed your dogs. Hint: avocados are not good for your pooch
  • And at a shameless attempt to win a $100 Target Giftcard, (thanks for the heads up, Jenn & Heidi)

Just like a 5K.. only twice

When my company sent out an email saying they were sponsoring a team for the Falmouth Road Race, a popular 7 mile race on the coast of Cape Cod in August, I thought, good for them! I'd totally go hand out water and cheer on the runners. It wasn't until I told the hubs about it that evening, and he says "Why don't you run it?" Um... cos its 7 miles, and all I've ever run is a 5K.. that's why. Then for some crazy reason, the next morning I emailed the girl saying that I'm in. Did I feel like I had lost 5 lbs as soon as I sent that email? Totally.. Now I have to start training for this marathon (minus 19.2 miles). Yesterday I started with 2.5 miles, and let me tell you..

Its going to be a long summer.

Who's the Fiercest of them all?

Did you know there was a Top Model Event called "1st Annual Fiercee Awards"? Tyra claims the extra E stands for the extra fierceness.. but I really think she believes that she can make up her own words and that Websters will add it into their book and give her all the credit. But thats just my theory..

Behold, some former ANTM'ers. Some will surprise you!!! Thanks Ali for sending me the link. I should spell your name Alie (for extra fierceness obvi)

click here for all the pics!

there were a few people on the red carpet, but i refuse to showcase annoying characters (ie: tyra, saleisha, etc..) at the jq lounge...Jaslene! above: THAT's Jade?! are you kidding me?

Cinco de Mayo!!

There are a bunch of yummy Mexican restaurants/bars near our house so Saturday we set out with some friends to go celebrate the Mexican victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla (thanks wikipedia!).

Debbie Q even made an appearance to have a mother daughter mojito!!!

Some highs and lows..

High: winning $50 on the Kentucky Derby on Big Brown
Low: tearing up over my frozen strawberry marguarita when a horse was euthanized shortly after the race. I still want to cry and watch Seabiscuit.. and get sad just typing it out.
High: Having an excuse to play with maracas at a bar
Low: Losing a bet over who sang "Achy Breaky Heart". I thought it was for sure Garth Brooks, but Gus knew it was Billy Ray Cyrus. If I had won- I would've made him go to the opening night of SATC movie, where we would get Cosmo's before and after the film! But since I lost, I got dragged to go see Iron Man.
High: Iron Man turned out being AWESOME! If you're going to get forced to see a comic book movie- this one was hilarious and action packed.. go Robert Downey Jr!
High: cooking a yummy Rice and Chicken salad before we went out so we'd have something to munch on instead of ordering pizza. Everyone came over after the bars and chowed down, I was very proud.
Low: Waking up to a sink with a broken bowl and a broken glass. And having NO CLUE how it happened!
High: no drunk dialing the Pizza Guy!!
And on a super high note..

we got MARIO KART for wii!!!!! It has little steering wheels for each player and as soon as we get enough practice in- you can go online and play against anyone you want! You may send me your stats and apply to challenge gus and julie...

BUI is a serious offense..

JQ Lounge correspondant Lisa W sent me the most ridiculously fabulous article.. on Drunk Internet Shopping. BUI (buying under the influence) as they like to call it! I love how Lisa said "This was very JQ Lounge-esque". HA that made my day.

involves people (mostly women) getting real wasted, blacking out and going on online retail benders, typically blowing hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars on clothes and shoes and rings and crap. The weirdest thing was, most of them don't regret it. In fact, one woman referred to this kind of sloppy shopping as "the only thing you can do after a few drinks and not have any regrets." This is presumably because you can return most purchases. But what if you're a cheapo drunk shopper and you buy things on sale? Then you're just screwed? The terror. [source]

I admit I've hit Sephora.com and splurged on a few goodies after a couple glasses of wine. You don't get the guilty "hmmmm I won't be getting paid til next week" butterflies in the stomach. And all you have to do is shut the MacBook if the hubs walks into the room so he can't see what's going on. But now that I think about it.. iridescent purple eyeshadow and bright pink lip gloss is something I probably would've ordered only when I was buzzed..

I KNOW a few of the JQ Loungers have done this... so spill!!!!! I'm such a nosy neighbor..

A Closer Look

  • its Kim, the fiesty cool ANTM chick from a few seasons back courtesy of Jezebel.com- I actually digged her short hir back on the show! But I still heart her (she's on MTV News now!)
  • 10 Things NOT to discuss at a cocktail party. Hmmmm I think I dabbled in each one of those topics this past weekend in Rochester (at the hubs fraternity's alumni weekend). NOTE TO SELF: Don't drink on an empty stomach in a luxury box @ a baseball game right after a 6 hr drive when you happen to be pms'ing.. at least the REST of my weekend was awesome :)
  • if you stop buying $800 shoes, they will lower their prices. Hmmmm except, something tells me Jimmy Choo won't be lowering those babies to $29.99 any time soon.
  • I love art. I love post-its. Why not rock a masterpiece in your cube??
  • and last but not least AUNT BECKY of the 80s hit Full House has joined the cast of the 90210 sequel. Her and Kelly Taylor are going to get into lots o catfights. Have mercy ;)

Its Good to have Goals

Recently the Rochester Boston Coalition embarked on an impromptu bar crawl. And by that I mean I like to call it a bar crawl even though it consisted of two places.. SoHo recently got changed to the Brighton Beer Garden, which is a great call on their part because SoHo was turning a little too club-ish for my liking.. After some yummy lunch, beers/sangria, we headed over to my favorite bar, Deep Ellum.

Six of us, still in detox from vacation earlier this month, came up with the brilliant idea of making a Deep Ellum Draft. What's that you ask? Welp, Deep Ellum in Allston has the most delicious cocktails ever, so we decided to hold a draft (much like the NFL one I'm sure most of your boys were glued to to the tv this weekend watching) where we each pick a cocktail on the menu (24 total= 6 of us = 4 drinks each = factor in most of the girls settling for 2).

The "Neva have I Eva drank every drink on The Deep Ellum menu"* event will probably be taking place in the near future. That also gives us a little time to work out some sponsorships, like free pretzel and beer cheese appetizers from their menu?!

Its good to have goals!

And sorry, I don't have an iPhone so my camera phone pics look like they came straight from 2002!

*Name subject to change.
