Blooming Fabulousity.

A few weeks ago I received exciting news that I had won an amazing prize over at CreateGirl!

My Blooming Pillow Prize was designed and created by Two Yellow Shoes. There were so many different colors to choose from, and after much thought, I went with Black and Champagne (can't go wrong with those colors).

Laura was pleasant to work with and my pillow arrived soon after picking out the colors. Plus- packaging is big sell in my book- and I LOVED the pretty paper it came in. So did my dogs Rocco and Lexie, who were only allowed to look at the pillow for about 10 seconds.

Thanks to CreateGirl & Two Yellow Shoes! My living room is much more beautiful because of you.

JQ Lounge 2010 Oscar Recap

Its our favorite time of the year at the JQ Lounge: the 2010 Oscars! This year's event had the usual suspects in attendance: me, hubs, my brother Matt and his lovely girlfriend Andrea. Oscars and Chinese Food is a great little tradition of ours + some witty banter in between through live tweets.

A Simple Man-gria were the drinks of choice :)

Guest Judges, Andrea & Broseph (and Lexie sneaking in an appearance)

Hubs: Is that the girl from Wedding Crashers?

Bro: No, that's Borat's wife. This girl is from Up in the Air.

Andrea: I love how Ryan Seacrest had to wait til Anna Kendrick walked away to tell M'onique that she was a lock for the Oscars

Bro (as told by Lexie): Rain on the Oscars? More Natural Disasters of 2010! Thank God George Clooney is already here to put together a telethon

Bro: I went to sleep last night with the mental picture of Kathy Griffin making out with Mariska b/c I had just watched Law & Order. Not cool.

FYI, from now on I'm going to call her Sandy, just like Ryan Reynolds.

If you don't have time to live your life now, when do you? (at the Oscars) -fortune cookie

Hubs: What was the last movie he was in, Ferris Bueller?

Shiloh Jolie is so big now!!

My pix of the evening? J Lo.

Elizabeth Banks (but she was favored because she guest starred on Modern Family in my eyes)

Demi Moore. I dont know why she was there, but she looked even younger than the last time I saw her on the Red Carpet.

And a shout out to Matt Damon. Alway representing Boston and looking bootyliscious. His wife is so pretty and seems like the nicest women ever.

Click here for the rest of my Red Carpet tweets (there were quite a few)

Countdown to the next Oscars begins now!

In A Perfect World..

My friend Lauren's MOH had sent her this book, Porn for the Bride- and after reading some of the quotes out loud while drinking Sangria with the ladies could be a new favorite past time. Basically its stuff that a Bride would just LOVE her man to say to her.

A couple amazing quotes. I highly suggest you buy this book for the Bride-to-Be in your life! (luckily this awesome blog has some excepts from the book below!)

*Just saw that they have a Porn for New Moms and Porn for Women post cards. I'm telling you- these are HILARIOUS! A fun cute gift.

Meet George!

The tallest dog in the world according to Guinness Book of Records. And the best part? There is controversy over it by Titan (the world's 2nd tallest dog) on Titan's blog. George clocks in at 3 Feet 7 inches. And after a lengthy description by Titan's owner (i'm assuming its not Titan typing it) they say he's actually 3 inches taller due to the way they measured within regulation.

George is going to be on Oprah today, but before Oprah gives George her endorsement- I think they should have the Guinness people measure both dogs together to put the drama to rest.

As a dog lover, I cannot pick sides*. I think they should share the title and be treated to a nice steak dinner with a snausage pie treat!

*my dogs are about a foot tall on a good day, so I'm not one to judge.

Top 5 Favorite Hollywood Couples..

After watching the Valentine's Episode of the greatest new talkshow in the entire world: The Wendy Williams Show, I'd like to dedicate my V-day post to my favorite Hollywood Couples of all time. Now Wendy was a good girl and picked couples that are currently together, but I'm gonna take it up a notch and talk about Old School Awesomeness.

My Top 5.

Jennifer Lopez and Puff Daddy.

This was back when J-Lo was just becoming uber famous. I used to ask for J-Lo highlights to the point where I used to have to wash my hair 5 times in a row before going back to school the next day because it was SO BLOND. Fact: washing your hair 5 times in a row does nothing. Anyhoo- this was when Jenny the Fly Girl was blowin' up and Puff Daddy was the Bad Boy. The Green Versace Dress? The Night Club shooting scandal? So bad ass and awesome. Glad she's happy now with Mark, but you know Diddy will always look back at her as the one who got away.

Reese & Ryan

Tell me you don't watch Cruel Intentions and think that they should not be together. Maybe I live in La La land, but even looking back for the picture to post for them- I remember just about every single picture they've ever taken together (single white female here!). They seemed so perfect together with their young romance and having their little cute adorable family. I know Hollywood is a marriage killer- but damin Ryan, why you gotta go to the clubs all the time???

Randy Gerber & Cindy Crawford

The only thing I have to say about these two is that they are incredibly ridiculously good looking. And then they go and have 2 kids that will be just as incredibly ridiculously good looking. I can only hope they are nice in person because I can only assume so since they always look happy. tehehehe.

Jay Z & Beyonce

Um.. this is an obvious one. I remember there were rumors that they were getting married right as I was getting ready to leave our trip to Cozumel. 'Oh NO! I won't be able to check people.com and get the lastest and greatest news about them'.. Fact: I was able to grab a computer and look up the one pic a photag snapped of them. Yes, I am a very dedicated Hollywood Gossip hag.

And the last but not least couple is: Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams. I'm always baffled as to why these two aren't back together. They had reconciled after their initial breakup, but as of now they are not together. It even feels like they flirt with each other in the media with some of the quotes they say. For example right when they broke up, he said "people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that."

And about their actual breakup? "The only thing I remember is we both went down swingin' and we called it a draw."

Damnit Ryan and Rachel! Why don't you get a joint manager who will schedule your movies accordingly so you have time to go on dates. I miss you guys!

Happy Valentines' Day! (note: i consider this whole weekend a Holiday)

Who are your favorites??

Currently

  • feeling a Sports Hangover coming my way. Hitting up a Celtics Game today (my sister in law got us tix for Christmas, so we're all going to grab some lunch in the North End then head over to the Garden) and then its Superbowl Madness thereafter. Celtics games are SO FUN! Except I've noticed every time I take pictures at a game, they look EXACTLY like the last game.
  • Excited about HBO's new project to reveal the glamorous world of blogging through a show called Tilda. I just hope they keep Amy Adams 5 miles away from the set..
  • happy we did not get one inch of snow. I feel for ya DC! Not sure how Boston weaseled its way out of this one.
  • trying not to shop for vacation. trying is the key word.
  • wondering if my husband has any clue its Valentines Day next Sunday

Where in the World Wednesday!

So if you ever Gchat with me, you'll learn real quick that I like to complain during winter time. Bahhhh its too cold. Bahhhh I hate the snow. Baahhhhhh I can't wear open toe shoes. Baahhhhhhh I hate wearing tights. I'd been dreaming about a spring getaway to Greece for quite some time, but after looking up itineraries and figuring out travel for the past 3 weeks, it became pretty clear that my main concern was relaxing and not being a tourist. So we decided to go back to Sandals! The fabulous place where we went on our honeymoon 3 years ago. We got a sweet deal since we're returning Sandlers at the newest resort, Emerald Bay, which is the feature of my first Where in the World Wednesday (the brain child of Jess from Classy in Philadelphia)

And now the countdown to vacation begins.

*yes, I know 99% of you would have said go to Greece. We'll get there sometime!

Jenna wants me to have a Temper Tantrum

So SOMEHOW this shopping email sent to my gmail account. It was Jenna's Picks from J.CREW. But its February now, so I was bound to fall my resolution of no shopping emails.

Just as I was about to delete the email and unsubscribe, I saw her.

One of the prettiest heels I've ever seen. This is SUCH a Julie shoe! And I've never seen a strap like that before. And the nude color? Just makes your legs look that much tanner. So for anyone out there who is looking for a Valentine's Day Gift (and because its so expensive (a whopping $235), I'll even let this go towards the next 5 V-Days!) Maybe do a 2 for 1 President's Day Gift as well?

It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. (even if I have to wait til its out of season to get a bahgain). But I know impulsive Julie. This isn't good.

Jon Hamm should have run in Mass!

The dreamy Don Draper hosted SNL this week, and it was a classic show. One of my favorite parts (besides SERGIO) was when he played Scott Brown. And yeah- he pretty much got it spot on.

I smell a dreamy turn from Hollywood to Politics in the near future. After he retires from Sterling Cooper, of course.

Lazy Saturday & Pretty Things

Finally feeling better today after a couple days of the sniffles and a slight fever. It looks like a gorjas day outside in Boston, but do not feel bad about staying in because I think its about 18 degrees outside.

Since I'm resting up to go out to dinner tonite, I figured I'd share some happy pretty things I've seen lately.

First is from Becca. She's got an uncomfortable obsession with Anthropologie. I'm kidding, its completely appropriate because their catalogs are magical.

I would never think to do this, but it looks SO PRETTY! And the most amazing part? I would guess they'd be $22.00 each since they are from Anthro, but they are only $6!!

I was recently looking for a new Twitter Background, and wanted to pay tribute to one of my favorite movies of all time: The Royal Tenenbaums. My dream would have been to have a picture of the Wall of Margot paintings in the house, but when I could not find a big enough picture, I went with Baumer. But I did see this picture, which I would love to replicate in a house of mine someday. And for those who love this movie as much as I do, A Cup of Jo featured a Wes Anderson styled wedding that looked absolutely amazing. Just look at the front of their invites:

For the rest of the details, check out here!

And last but not least, being from New England- I've finally come to appreciate the Nautical theme. I think if I had to explain my very random taste, it would be 'Country on a Romantic Boat'. I've realized I love pretty romantic things, country stuff (DUCKS) and the cool demeanor of sea side items. A new favorite site is Seagrass. Just saw that they are on Twitter as well!

Starfish Garland, $28

Antique Sconce, $197

White Whale Chalk Board, $90

Happy Weekend!
